Upgrade ESC to version 15.13

The following steps should be used to update to ESC version 15.13. Looking for the details on 15.13? Click here to check out what's new!

  • ESC Web Front Office has been discontinued in version 15.2
    • If you are a current ESC Web Front Office User please contact ESC Support prior to upgrading.

Start here if you are on ESC 15.01 or earlier

First, we want to capture a backup of our ESC database from our server computer.

1. Have all users log out of ESC.

  • Note: Verify all users have logged out of ESC go to Help > About > Current Users.

2. On the server, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C: drive.

3. Select the New Folder option, and create a folder called ESC1513.

  • Note: This is where the backup will be stored.

4. Logon to ESC using the ADMIN account and go to File > Backup You Data.

5. Next, type C:\ESC1513 then click Backup.

This can take anywhere from a couple of seconds to a few hours depending on the size of your database.

Before ESC can be upgraded, you must uninstall the current version.  This is completely safe and will not affect your data at all.

1. Close any open programs.

2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Settings.

3. Choose the Apps settings.

4. From the list of applications, select Electronic Service Control and click the Uninstall button.

Optional: Repeat Steps 1-4 and Uninstall the ESC Connections Server and ESC Accounting Server.

Before ESC can be upgraded, you must uninstall the current version.  This is completely safe and will not affect your data at all.

1. Close any open programs.

2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Settings.

3. Choose the Apps settings.

4. From the list of applications, select Electronic Service Control and click the Uninstall button.

Optional: Repeat Steps 1-4 and Uninstall the ESC Connections Server and ESC Accounting Server.

Next, on your server, you will now install ESC, and convert the database to work with it.

1. Download the Setup by selecting the Download button.

2. Upon completion, run the download file to begin the installation.

3. Accept all defaults as you proceed through the wizard.

  • Note: No action, other than clicking Next through the wizard, is required.

4. Click Finish at the end of the installation wizard to launch ESC.

5. Logon using the ADMIN account to begin the conversion.

  • Note: This could take several minutes depending on the size of your database and the speed of your computer.

6. After upgrading to 15.02 click the update available link on the dashboard to install 15.14.

7. After the installation is complete, log in as Admin to start the conversion.

Next, we will install the ESC Connection Server on your server.

1. Download the ESC Connection Server by selecting the Download button.

2. Upon completion, run the download file to begin the installation.

3. Accept all defaults as you proceed through the wizard.

  • Note: No action, other than clicking Next through the wizard, is required.

4. Once the installation of the new connection server is complete, close the wizard.

You may skip this step if the ESC Accounting Server is already installed on your machine.

If you are integrating with QuickBooks or Sage 50, and using an Accounting Server that shows version 13.0.1 or lower, you will need to upgrade to the latest version.

1. Close any open programs, including ESC.

2. Download the ESC Accounting Server by selecting the Download button.

3. Upon completion, run the download file to begin the installation.

  • Note: No action, other than clicking Next through the wizard, is required.

4. Once the installation of the new connection server is complete, close the wizard.

5. Run the ESC Accounting Server by clicking the Windows Start, in the Search box type in ESC Accounting Server and select it from the results.

The ESC Accounting Server will remember your previous settings, so you can connect it normally at this point. No additional action needs to be done to your accounting software.

Now that the server installation is complete, it is time to upgrade ESC on your workstations. To do this you must first uninstall the existing version of the software. This is completely safe and no data will be lost in the process.

1. Close any open programs.

2. Right-click the Windows Start button and select Settings.

3. Choose the Apps settings.

4. From the list of applications, select Electronic Service Control and click the Uninstall button.

5. Download the ESC setup client by selecting the Download button.

6. Upon completion, run the download file to begin the installation.

7. Accept all defaults as you proceed through the wizard.

  • Note: No action, other than clicking Next through the wizard, is required.

8. Click Finish at the end of the installation wizard to launch ESC.

9. After upgrading to 15.02 click the update available link on the dashboard to install 15.13.

10. After the installation is complete, log in as Admin to start the conversion.

Once the conversion is complete the update is finished users may log back into ESC.

Start here if you are on ESC 15.02 or later

2. Log into ESC as an Admin and click the Update Available link on the Dashboard to install 15.13.

3. Log back into ESC as an Admin to convert the database.

 

This can take anywhere from a couple of seconds to a few hours depending on the size of your database.

1. On the server computer, in the lower-right corner of your window's desktop, look for the ESC Connections Server icon.

2. Right-click the ESC Connections Server icon and select Update.

3. If prompted by the UAC, select Yes.

4. When finished updating, the ESC Connections Server will state the process is "Complete." Click the X in the top-right corner of the update box to finish this process.

2. This should begin the installation process when finished log into ESC.
