Update the ESC Connections Server

Follow

This page will walk you though upgrading your ESC Connections Server to the latest patch level. This should be done as new patches are released to make sure everything functions flawlessly. We recommend doing this during a slow point in your day, because although this process is relatively quick, none of your mobile solutions will work until the update is complete. Other functionality provided by the Connections Server, such as sending emails to customers when the status of their dispatch changes or importing new American Home Shield dispatches, will resume again once the upgrade is finished.

You will always want to update the ESC Connections Server the same time you update Electronic Service Control in order to keep both programs communicating smoothly.

Upgrade the Connections Server

This step should only be performed on your server.

Right click the ESC Connections Server Administrator icon in the System Tray (usually located in the lower right-hand corner near the time) and select Update.

(If this icon is not visible, try clicking the Show Hidden Icons button in that same area of the screen. If you still do not see it, click the Windows Start button and select Programs → dESCO → ESC Connections Server to display the icon. Agree to any Windows messages that might pop-up. This will start the upgrade process.)

Click the X in upper right-hand corner once the process says Complete.

At this point you will have successfully updated your Connections Server. To verify that, log out of ESC, if you're in it, then log back in. You should see the new version number in the Currently Open Company section of the Dashboard.

Manual Update

Note: If you are unable to perform the upgrade as described, you can still download and install the latest Connections Server using these directions.

Remove the Connections Server
The first step in upgrading the ESC Connections Server is to uninstall it. This process is completely safe and will not affect your data in any way.

  1. Close any open programs.
  2. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel.
  3. Click Programs and Features
  4. Click ESC Connections Server and then click Uninstall on the toolbar.

Install the Connections Server
The next step is to download and install the new ESC Connections Server on your server.

Close any open programs.
Click the button below to download the installation package. Save the file somewhere you can find it easily (such as your Desktop or Download folder).

When the download is complete, start the installation by double-clicking the downloaded file.  Accept all the defaults as you go through the wizard. You do not need to do anything during the course of the wizard other than click the Next button.

Once the Connections Server has been installed it will be started automatically. This completes the upgrade process.
