Why are parts of my screen distorted or missing?

Microsoft Windows allows the user to adjust the DPI settings of their screen in order to make certain fields and text larger. However, adjusting these settings can have negative affects on several programs, including ESC:

• Certain fields in ESC will appear distorted or go missing altogether.
• Text on the Electronic Dispatch Board will appear too large, making it difficult to read.
• Some screens are cut off, making information and fields on that screen inaccessible.

Resolution:

The recommended solution is to set your DPI back to 100% (which is the default for Windows) and then adjust the Screen Resolution settings in order to enlarge the screen for better viewing purposes.

To adjust the DPI:

1. Close out of all programs.
2. Go to the Control Panel in Windows.
3. Open the Display icon. If your Control Panel is in Category view, you'll find the Display option under Appearance and Personalization.
4. Change the DPI settings to Normal - or "Smaller" - which is 100% DPI and Apply the settings.
5. Reboot.

Upon rebooting, you may find that the items on your screen are too small for your comfort. This can be corrected by adjusting the Screen Resolution settings in Windows:

1. Go to the Control Panel in Windows.
2. Open the Display icon. If your Control Panel is in Category view, you'll find the Display option under Appearance and Personalization.
3. Click on Adjust Resolution on the left side of the screen.
4. Use the Resolution drop-down to change the screen resolution. The smaller the resolution setting, the larger your screen will appear. Click Apply to preview the screen with the new resolution. Once you have found a setting you are comfortable with, click OK to save your settings.

Alternate Resolution:

If the above steps did not solve the issue, feel free to try the following. These steps are generally useful for newer model systems.

1. From the desktop of your computer, right click the ESC icon.
2. Select Properties.
3. Place a check mark in Run this program in compatibility mode for:
   • In the drop down for compatibility mode, select Windows 8.
4. Place a check mark in the Run this program as an administrator.
5. Place a check mark in the Disable fullscreen optimizations.
6. Click Change high DPI settings.
   • Place a check mark in the Override high DPI scaling behavior.
     • In the drop down for Scaling performed by: choose the System (Enhanced) option.
